The course aims to take a creative hands-on approach to learning the basics of photography. Each technical aspect of the camera and light is accompanied by a practical exercise in order to reinforce what has been taught. The first half of the course concentrates purely on learning how the camera and light works in photography and culminates in a short field trip in order further practice the skills learned in the first few weeks. The second half of the course focuses on digital imaging and the skills necessary to produce images ready for publishing on the web or printing. At the end of the course the participants should know the basics of light and how to use the camera on manual mode as well as understand how the camera functions in automatic mode. In addition to this they will be able to process their digital images and use some basic post-processing techniques.
